On October 21st 2003, at the tender age of 34, the beautiful songwriter that was Elliott Smith died from two stab wounds to the chest.

The songsmith of such tender albums as “Figure 8”, “XO” and “Either/Or” had been struggling with a serious drug addiction and his live shows had become erratic to say the least but still the alternative music world was in shock.

Known by many for his Oscar performance after his nomination for best song after penning the soundtrack for “Good Will Hunting” it was this un-Oscar-like acoustic performance that catapulted Smith into the mainstream.
