Festival Season : Electric Picnic Announcement

As stated already today the first big announcement for this years Electric Picnic will take place Wednesday evening….

In getting with the spirit of things please leave a comment below to share :

1. Your favourite ever performance at Electric Picnic

2. The artist/band that you would most like to see announced for this years festival.*

*Please try and make it a realistic, touring performer so try and keep the Bob Marley’s, John Lennon’s etc to a minimum 🙂

  • To get things rolling my own personal favourites would be….

    1. dEUS (2006)

After having to sell my ticket for 2005 my first time at the festival and the first act I got to saw after years of attending Witnness/Oxegen. The impact was pretty damn astounding. They literally had to be dragged off the stage going at least two songs over the allotted time.

    2. Bon Iver

  • The act id really like to see at it is Leftfield who have reformed so hopefully they'll get em.

My favourite performance was Chris Cunningham, mind blowing stuff

  • Leftfield definitely looks like a possibility. Missed that Cunningham set. Were the visuals amazing too? Supposed to put on a crazy show

  • Cunningham set was deadly had to leave early because it was to much for the wife

    (1) Underworld in 2008 best act

    (2) Leftfield and Doves would like to see, Seen Leftfield years ago at Homelands/Creamfield brillant

  • Unknown

PJ Harvey was fantastic, so intense! And I really enjoyed Sigur Ros last year actually. Other highlights over the years – Broken Social Scene, The Rapture, Cut Chemist, The Go Team, The Crash Ensemble.

Would love to see Blur there or The Pixies, have never gotten to see either band live.

  • Skirmish

The visuals were savage altogether, some guy was asleep by my feet, couldnt get over it. Leftfield would be amazing

  • I remember I had the times perfectly planned out to see Pj Harvey and was on my way over there to find the times had been changed and she had just finished. A scar I still bear to this day….

  • Favourite was Beastie Boys, it seemed to be a love it/hate it gig but I was up the front dancing my drunken ass off.

Would love to see LCD Soundsystem, Gorrilaz, Hot Chip, the Pixies (though I'll see them at Primavera) as headliners but the important thing for me is the the middle to lower bill acts are solid, and I'm worried that Oxegen will nab them up, especially having seen the middle east confirmed for EP on Jim Carroll's blog.

  • It looks like there may be a lot of crossover this year though Joe with Mumford & Sons almost certainly playing the two. It makes sense now that the two festivals are no longer in direct competition, what with being half owned by more-or-less the same owners and everything, and the Oxegen announcement going even more and more pop with Black Eyed Pea's etc.

Disappointed myself with The Middle East announcement I have to say.

  • Agree with Joe, Gorillaz would be a great addition.
The return of live performances to Stradbally for LCD and Hot Chip are also welcome.
I thought Chic were great fun last year and would love to see them make a return to the Electric Arena this year.
