Festival News : Cork X Southwest To Announce Patti Smith as Headliner

Cork X Southwest have yet to make their first big official announcement but it has been confirmed that no other than the legendary Patti Smith will headline the 2011 festival in Skib, West Cork.

Last year saw a jump in international acts with Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Martha Wainwright performing on the main stage but this surely trumps both already. A small gripe with last years festival was that it clashed with several other Irish festivals as it took place over the August Bank Holiday weekend but this year sees the festival take place on June 4th and 5th. The assumption must be made that the festival has doubled in size to a two day festival (from a traditionally one day event) and has also relocated to the larger, further out Liss Ard possibly meaning the festival can both be louder and later this year.

Tickets go on sale on March 1st.
