New Release Highlights June 24th (June 27th for the U.K.)

The G-Man Release Of The Week is :

The Harrow & The Harvest by Gillian Welch

Technically, it has been eight years since Gillian Welch released Soul Journey, her last studio album. The New Yorker did play and sing as part of Dave Rawling(Welch’s long-time accomplice-in-crime)’s Dave Rawlings Machine project back in 2009 so we have had that little appetizer to chew on in that eight year hiatus as well as numerous collaborations and duets including guesting on “Lua” with Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) for the Dark Was The Night compilation but that is exactly what they were : little tasters. Finally The Harrow & The Harvest is actually here so stay tuned for a review and any videos, tour dates etc. that may appear over the coming weeks to coincide with the release.

No new videos or links are available as I post so check out “Look At Miss Ohio” from Soul Journey below

Other releases of note this weekend…

Foster The PeopleTorches

Jolie HollandPint Of Blood

*If anyone is about Cork I recommend popping in to Jim and Albert in Plugd Records. The new store is up and running on Tobin Street as part of the new Triskel Arts Centre and you can even have a cup of tea and a bite to eat in their new café, Gulpd.

If you are located elsewhere I strongly recommend picking up at least one album when you can from your local independent store. Most independents now take orders by email and post out the stock if you are unable to get to the store so it may be worth checking out.
