One of the artists featured on The G-Man's Irish Bands You Just Might Like page (click here to view the current list) is the latest act to go the Fund it route.
Limerick's Sí already has her debut album Great Expectations, recorded over the last two years in Bunker Hill studios with Fergal Lawler (The Cranberries), set for release but help is required to get the digital audio out there into the big bad physical world.
Dark, sepulchral folk is possibly the best way I can describe what I have heard from the songstress, who is herself a pianist, harpist and Cork School of Music graduate, but you can check out the track "Toy Soldiers (alla marcia funebre)" yourself below.
The official statement from Sí, aka Síle Ní Dhubhghaill, is below :
Great Expectations is my debut album. It was recorded over quite a long period of time in Bunker Hill studios with Fergal Lawler (The Cranberries). We spent almost two years trying to get everything perfect and we put our blood sweat and tears into it...
Now I would like to give it the cover art and packaging that is of a standard to match the quality of the recording, and that's where you guys come in! The album has been mastered and ready to go for a while now and I really think that crowd-funding is the way to get it out there. Any help that you could give would be very deeply appreciated - this album is a labour of love... I feel like I owe it to all the people who have been coming to my gigs for years to get this album out. Many of you have repeatedly asked where and when can you get a recording and my answer has always been a very vague 'soon'. Well soon has finally come around, and hopefully with your help you will finally be able to hear the finished product.
This whole thing is really due to Fergal Lawler - his belief in me and his continual support. I owe it to him, and to myself, to give this a proper go. Thanking you in advance - everyone who has come to a gig or sent an email expressing their enjoyment of the music, and anyone reading this that I have never met or spoken to. I'm hoping to meet you soon
Thanks so much,
Sile Ni Dhubhghaill
