Katie Kim to appear on Later... with Jools Holland

It is always very exciting when a favourite band/singer appears on Later... on a Friday (or even Tuesdays now too) but when a favourite Irish act is announced, especially an unsigned Irish act, it is just that little bit extra special.

Waterford's Katie Kim, performing as a vocalist with The Waterboys who will be performing tracks from Appointment With Mr. Yeats, will rub shoulders with Coldplay, Professor Green and The Phoenix Foundation on Tuesday and Friday as part of episode six of Later... Absolutely delighted for such a hard-working and talented individual who I was lucky to catch as first on the bill a few years back in a small little bar called The Infirmary which was part of the Mardyke Complex in Cork as posted way back when this blog was only fresh-faced and innocent (click here and check the comments).

More recently Kim played The Bowery in Cork which, despite a chatty audience, demonstrated how far she has come in just a few years and now backed by a formidable band. A friend and I also unwittingly found ourselves in charge of her merch stall.*

*We were sitting beside it and people kept giving us money during the gig. We made sure all the cash made its way to Katie though I swear!
