One for the Road

On Sunday afternoon of December 4th, Whelan’s will screen One For the Road, a short documentary filmed about Dave and Julie’s beloved yet now sadly deceased, Road Records.

Not being from Dublin and never having lived in the capital for any period of time, I still feel privileged to have had the chance to have visited the shop on a good few occasions with Quasi‘s American Gong the last Road Records album of the week I had the pleasure to get my mitts on (and I bloody love that record!).

A trailer for the film, which features interviews with Richie Egan, Glen Hansard, Dave Fanning and more, can be viewed below along with a few other videos of some excellent performances recorded in the shop (formerly situated on Fade Street in Dublin), which did so much for the independent Irish music scene, over the years.

– One For the Road will be screened in Whelan’s at approx. 6.30pm

– several bands will perform live after the screening.
