Odd that a sub-festival that grew and matured within the walls of one of Ireland's first alternative music & arts festivals is looking increasingly likely to replace that same gathering as the "underground" festival of choice.
In 2010, Electric Picnic's Body & Soul area had become such a bright jewel in the Stradbally soiree's crown that it felt strong enough to branch out on its own, announcing a two day festival to run in June with a line-up of attractive alternative acts including Four Tet, Tunng and Jape.
This year will see Villagers, M83, St. Vincent, Little Dragon and more take to the castle grounds. Here's what the promoters have to say...
"The musical line-up for this year’s Body&Soul does not disappoint. The festival is all about getting away from mundane radio playlists and experiencing new and varied acts in a magical setting.
The first group of acts confirmed show that Body & Soul travels a different path to other festivals, embraces the alternative and left of centre and embodies a wide range of styles and sounds."
