Record Store Day 2012: New independent chart to launch on RSD12

As you may or may not know by now, this coming Saturday is the fifth annual record store day where independent record stores, artists and fans alike come together to celebrate the importance of the local indy store.

April 21st 2012 will also mark the beginning of a new official record store chart, a chart to track independent record store sales in the U.K..

The figures will run side-by-side with the standard charts with figures compiled by the official charts company. From this Sunday onwards, the new sales leaderboard will be posted at 7pm every Sunday on www.officialcharts.com. Interesting indeed.
