Festival News : Cork Midsummer Festival – Adventures Of A Music Nerd: 1 Guy, 2 World Cups

June 21st – July 1st

Cork Midsummer Festival returns to Leeside this eve with another glowing programme with a diverse range of events spanning music, theatre, dance, visual arts and more.

Innovation is the key to the Cork arts festival’s line-up – reinforced over the years with theatre staged in the most unusual of settings – and it is the turn of local man Ronan Leonard to “step up to the spot” in 2012.

The music loving football fanatic brings his one-man show Adventures Of A Music Nerd: 1 Guy, 2 World Cups to Phoenix Street for an eight night run that will see Leonard “ramble through the many World Cup songs that came out for Italia ’90 (the one Ireland won… as the hero remembers it) and USA ’94 (the one we didn’t)”, in turn casting the microscope on Ooh Aah McGrath’s rapping abilities and Bono’s expendability. Tickets are priced at €15/€12 and are currently on sale from the Cork Midsummer Festival box office, located on the ground floor of the Triskel Arts Centre on Tobin Street.*
