Festival News : Liss Ard
Southern coast music meet-up Cork X Southwest is no more. Sad news yes? Well wipe those tears away as the Skibbereen-based festival has simply rebranded itself following the location move last year, coming back bigger and brighter with some amazing artists announced for the (technically) first Liss Ard festival.
The stand-out name on the list for me personally is former Blue Nile songwriter and frontman Paul Buchanan who released another heart-slaying long-player in the form of his debut solo record Mid Air just a few weeks ago. I was fortunate enough to see the man perform at EP a number of years ago and strongly recommend this for anyone who values the art of songcraft.
The fun factor on both days will be provided by legendary acts Chic and Toots & The Maytals on a currently quantity light – but quality heavy – line-up. Cork X..I mean Liss Ard 2012, count me in!
