Orchestra of Spheres – 31st Aug in Half Moon

New Zealand’s Orchestra of Spheres‘ flying saucer crash lands on Half Moon Street this Friday with the kooky quartet playing their first ever Cork show in The Half Moon Theatre.

The Cork visit pre-empts the awesome foursome’s Electric Picnic appearance which is the reason for a bare bones Saturday night live line-up down Leeside way i.e. there’s pretty much nothing on. Those in possession of a bus-pass or a collection of wheels could kick off the weekend a little early though with a superb double-header taking place further east in Midleton with The Altered Hours and The Great Balloon Race both taking to the Meeting Place Bar‘s stage on Thursday.

If not Picnic-bound but still in the mood for more travelling then a serious recommendation is heading towards Macroom. Why for the love of God Macroom you say? Well the newly-opened The Grape Escape begins its live music life on Sunday, welcoming gospel/folk king Kentuckian Daniel Martin Moore and super able accomplice Joan Shelley through its doors. If physically possible…GO!
