Cork Gig Guide (September 4th – September 9th)

Daniel Martin Moore & Joan Shelley in Gulpd (Wed)

Dott & Hunk in The Pav (Sat)

Excuse the delay in posting this week’s listings but blissful ignorance in a field engulfed me for 5 days in Dorset. As I struggle to shake the cobwebs and dustballs out of hair and ears, see the below gig(s) of the week split into a midweek show and weekend performance. First up is the wonderful Daniel Martin Moore who brings his gospel-tinged folk to Gulpd Café in what should be a truly beautiful, intimate setting.
A frequent visitor to Ireland at this stage, the Louisville native is accompanied on this visit by fellow Kentuckian Joan Shelley. One not to be missed.

Later this week will finally see the return of Galwegian retro pop princesses (and prince) Dott who made lots of new friends when they were invited to play the Hope Is Noise-curated album launch in Fred’s earlier in the year. This free show in The Pavilion will also allow us nosey neighbours to get our first glance at Hunk in a live setting, the trio of course featuring Ger from Ten Past Seven so expectations are high.

It doesn’t stop there though with other stand-outs including Arlo Guthrie in The Pavilion (Thursday), Driftwood Manor and friends in Plugd Records and extraordinary trad-folk from This Is How We Fly in Half Moon Theatre (Friday), Frightened Rabbit down in Mitchelstown (Saturday) and Doug Paisley in Clon on Sunday.
