Sharon Van Etten cited them as her favourite new artist, The National are so smitten that the Dessner brothers have not only rereleased their second album but also are producing their next, and I think it is fair to say that the majority in attendance in the Triskel TDC on Saturday night are now converted to the banjo-charged folkie charms of This Is The Kit too.

Instead of me gushing over Kate, Jesse and Jamie’s elegantly excellent performance in Cork I will pass the baton on to the folks over at wearenoise.com who were in attendance to both review and immortalise through words and images. Having missed their previous visit to Cork, it was also a pleasure to welcome the brilliant Biggles Flys Again back on Leeside for what was a truly captivating, slightly pared-down performance of some of their more subtle compositions.
