Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 23rd December – 5th January

Cal Folger Day – Gulpd
Fred – The Pavilion

Fred, Cal Folger Day, And So I Watch You From Afar i.e. Christmas in Cork…

Ho ho ho and a bottle of rum as a more taken-to-the-seas-for-a-life-of-aquatic-crime-type Saint Nick might say. Enough pirate prattle and more Christmas chatter you say. The blog is taking a time-out for the festive season so the next two gig guides have been smushed into a single bumper edition. The stand-out shows taking place over the next fourteen days include the last two hurrahs for local legends Fred who bid their loyal fans adieu after fifteen years with double dates in The Pavilion on the 27th and 28th.

On the flipside of the year, New York chanteuse Cal Fol Folger returns to Cork with an intimate in Gulpd Café with a hell of a New Year’s Eve show sandwiched inbetween as And So I Watch You From Afar and The Altered Hours team up to welcome in the new year with an early show in The Crane Lane Theatre. Doors are at 8.30pm.

Also going down around town over the holidays:

  • The seventh return of Floating Joints featuring a bumper line-up of Toby Kaar, Bantum and Girl Band in The Pavilion Bar (Stephen’s Day)
  • Cat Dowling in Coughlan’s (Friday 27th)
  • The David Nelligan Thing in The Crane Lane Theatre (Friday 27th)
  • A festive Irish showcase starring The Vincent(s), Private Underground Residence, The Shaker Hymn and The Careers in The Pavilion (Sunday 29th)
