Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 13th-19th January 2014

65daysofstatic
September Girls

This week in Cork: 65daysofstatic, Une Pipe, Henry Girls, September Girls and more…

Despite the quantity of gigs down south remaining quite paltry, the quality is something else with no less than four shows in the coming seven days jumping straight off the paper. First up is Sheffield’s favourite math-rock outfit 65daysofstatic who return to Cyprus Avenue on Wednesday evening with sixth studio record Wild Light in tow. Earplugs are a necessity but high octane electronic rock is guaranteed. A truly awesome sight to behold live. The following night sees proceedings move a couple of streets away to Carey’s Lane where Une Pipe officially celebrate the launch of Serge de Plaisir, the Cork band’s début release, in The Pavilion. This one’s FREE so no excuses. For more on the new EP see here.

The only clash of the week is possibly not a clash at all depending on your viewpoint as rootsy folk clangs swords with indie-rock chic as both September Girls (not related) and The Henry Girls (genuine siblings) both bring album launch parties down south with Saturday shows in The Pavilion and Half Moon Theatre respectively.
