Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 24th February – 2nd March 2014

This week in Cork: Julia Kent, Caoimhín Ó’Raghallaigh, The Shaker Hymn, Rachel Sermanni and more…

Those Fractured Air and Plugd have once again teamed up to provide a Springtime treat in the Triskel TDC. Instrumental string-slingers Julia Kent and Caoimhín Ó’Raghallaigh both ride into town for a Saturday night show which sees the Canadian cellist making her Cork bow. There are still some tickets left here but the TDC space is an intimate room so best get on the case pronto.

The Triskel complex shall be busy that night as the main Christchurch room will simultaneously host award-winning New York string quartet The Attaca Quartet.

Dragging our gig-loving toes all the way back to the start of the week, it’s off to The Crane Lane Theatre later this evening (Monday) for The KC Session‘s 5th birthday party extravaganza. For a list of those performing on the night see the official event page here. The contender for FREE gig of the week certainly goes to Gulpd who host indie rockers The Shaker Hymn who are set to pop in for a special, stripped-down set. Stay tuned to the blog for more from them later in the week.

Battling them for that title though will be the brilliant Band of Clouds who bring their ever-changing collection to The Crane Lane Theatre on Saturday for an early evening show. Yep, that’s also FREE in.
