Record Store Day: Ireland

We all know Cork, Dublin and Galway are up to no good but what’s happening elsewhere in Ireland on RSD14…

Kilkenny
Rollercoaster Records
Kieran Street, Kilkenny
“The happiest little record shop in the world” has quite a bit in store for Saturday with a number of bands – including dream-poppers Frankenstein Bolts who recently débuted their first long player Slow Season on this very blog. Willie Meighan and co. are bound to have various other treats hidden away up their sleeves too.

Rollercoaster’s Record Store Day schedule:

  • 12pm Kilo 1977
  • 2pm Midnight Union Band
  • 3pm Frankenstein Bolts
  • 4pm Kingston

Limerick
Wingnut Records Limerick
Moviedrome, Henry Street, Limerick
All of the Wingnut festivities are outlined here.

Waterford
Hive Gallery & Studios
25 Michael Street, Waterford
One of the Deise’s finest new art spaces is throwing a shindig on Saturday that will include a pop-up record store and live music from 10pm. A BYOB event, electro-lovin’ folks such as MiXile, Lunacybot, Rainbow Chicks will all take to the stage with entry free but donations welcome.

Ben O’Neill Music Shop
19 O’Connell Street, Dungarvan
Lots and lots of limited edition releases for your earholes and boxes and boxes of homemade cakes for your, um, mouth-holes.

Wexford
South East Records
2 Peter Street, Wexford
Since BPM’s closure in what seems an age ago, my lovely hometown have badly missed a good record shop, especially with the healthy folk scene that’s obviously been eating its greens over the past couple of years. South East Records has filled that void and celebrates its first Record Store Day with a live instore session by local rockers Ripcord 64 who’ll be taking over the shop from 1pm.
