Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 23rd-28th April 2014

The Altered Hours – The Pavilion (Saturday)

In Their Thousands – Coughlan’s (Friday)

This week in Cork: The Certain Three, In Their Thousands and more..

It may seem like a shorter week following the madness of the long weekend and record store day, but there are still quite a number of live options in Cork over the next 6 days inclduing Irish folk-foursome In Their Thousands making their maiden appearance in Coughlan’s of Douglas Street, IMRO’s venue of the year.

Saturday evening welcomes the 2014 edition of The Certain Three tour. Topped by psych-pop guerillas The Altered Hours (who yesterday evening released their brand new single ‘Dig Early’ on Art For Blind Records), the terrific trio is completed by Sligo song sleuth Myles Manley and Manchester indie package Patterns who all play The Pavilion on Carey’s Lane this Saturday evening.

Unlike posted earlier in the week, Cloud Nothings play Cyprus Avenue on 25th May, not April.

Rewinding back to Thursday evening, British melody bombardier Peter Bruntnell plays an intimate show in Coughlan’s of Douglas Street before Rumble #8 returns to spiritual home, Bradley’s of Barrack Street on the following night.

Elsewhere, We Cut Corners and Liza Flume team up to take on The Crane Lane Theatre on Saturday evening before Cork Community Print Shop host Wild Rocket and Brains in their lovely establishment on lower Oliver Plunkett Street.
