Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 22nd-28th July

Cass McCombs – Cyprus Avenue
Daniel Martin Moore – Macroom

This week in Cork: Ger Wolfe, O Emperor, Sarah Jarosz, Carriages and more..

Charismatic Californian Cass McCombs hits Cyprus Avenue on Friday for a clash-heavy evening. With warm-up duties catered for by the magnificent Lisa O’Neill, this is one of those shows that has seemingly slipped under the radar.

For those looking to break free from the urban bonds of the bustling city centre, the final weekend in July gifts such an opportunity. First up on Friday 25th, the latest installment of the Sullane Sessions holds court in Macroom’s Briery Gap Theatre. Kentucky songwriter Daniel Martin Moore will be joined by international brothers and sisters in song, Jackson Dyer (Australia)and Ghost Town Jenny (Sweden/U.S.A.) for a celebration of all things MDR, Cork’s ever-growing, forever-touring indie micro-label. For those who fancy a dip in the sea with their psych-rock, use the following day (26th) as an excuse to hit the toe-tantalising Myrtleville sands before moseying uphill, sun-kissed and thirsty in time to catch The Altered Hours‘ latest visit to Pine Lodge, one of Cork’s true hidden treasures.*

LATE ADDITION: Ray Brown and Cal Folger Day in Gulpd Café, Friday
