Book: Clothes, Clothes, Clothes. Music, Music, Music. Boys, Boys, Boys

If you go down to the woods/bookshop today…

For the next few weeks/months there is a good chance I will post regularly regarding the lovely memories I’ve hauled back across the Irish Sea in my rucksack (weighing just under 15 kilos Ryanair I SWEAR) following my annual visit to Larmer Tree Gardens’ wonderful end of Summer get-together: End of the Road.

Inspired by her earnest talk and reading amongst the trees and fairy lights in the Woodlands Library, first port of call was to pick up a copy of the recently released memoir of Viv Albertine, former guitarist for controversial 70’s reggae/funk punks The Slits. Clothes, Clothes, Clothes. Music, Music, Music. Boys, Boys, Boys is a must read for anyone interested in a masterclass in cutting through the bullshit and finding your own “you”-shaped place in the world, one which consistently spat, assaulted and even stabbed a group of people who simply wanted to do their own thing.
