Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 9th-15th June 2015

Shookrah (Saturday)

This week in Cork: Shookrah, SOAK, the opening weekend of Cork Midsummer Festival and more.

Soul soldiers Shookrah funk up Cyprus Avenue on Friday evening on a bill that also welcomes Wicklow’s Zaska, complete with his own 8-piece army, to Cork.  A combination compiled completely for a perfect evening of sunny summery fun.

Friday sees the official launch of the 2015 edition of Cork Midsummer, a festival that thrives on creating magic and joy within odd and previously overlooked sites and venues. See the full programme over at www.corkmidsummer.com.

Elsewhere, Saturday sees the launch of a new series of nights under the title The Good Foot which will see a new hip-hop/soul/reggae night unleash itself on The Poor Relation with discs being spun by Southern Hospitality Board crew members from 8pm. That same evening welcomes teenage folk prodigy SOAK to Triskel Christchurch.
