Cork gig guide: 17th-23rd November 2015

Titus Andronicus (Cyprus Avenue – 23rd Nov)

This week in Cork: Titus Andronicus, Bitch Falcon, The Album Leaf and more.

Two weeks. TWO WEEKS! That’s the longest stretch without a gig guide since this little ol’ blog began over half a decade ago. I’m back, “refreshed” and raring to rock. Cyprus Avenue dominates the listings this week with two fascinating shows. First up is San Diego electo-folksters, The Album Leaf, led by Jimmy LaValle (who recently collaborated with Mark Kozelek to produce Perils of the Sea) on Friday. Four days later sees New Jersey noisemakers Titus Andronicus bring their 2015 rock opera, The Most Lamentable Tragedy, to Caroline Street.

Feeling a little folkier and fancy a brief foray out of town? Look no further than Ballincollig for Andy Irvine and Cormac O’Caoimh‘s pair-up at The White Horse. High on the must-see list for me personally though is Dublin rock quartet Bitch Falcon who pay their first visit to Cork on Friday night with a date in The Crane Lane Theatre. I haven’t been able to get their song Wolfstooth out of my ears for ages!
