Cork Gig Guide: 20th-27th June

This week in Cork: Gulpd wrap-up shows, Elbow, Elton John, Cork Midsummer Festival & more…
Following last week’s bombshell, expect a number of send-off sets to take place in Gulpd Cafe over the next week or so. Announcements are happening on the fly with Laurie Shaw & The Swamp People – backed by The Sunshine Factory – the only upcoming show confirmed as of yet so check back on the gig guide for what are sure to be some emotional shows in everyone’s favourite culture space as we tip an appreciative glass (or two) to Plugd 3.0 and Gulpd cafe.
UPDATE
Rory Francis O’Brien, the last ever Improvised Music Club meet-up featuring a whole host of previous contributors, Lerosa and Toby Kaar all confirmed for Gulpd this week. See the listings below for the details.

Elsewhere, Live at the Marquee’s month in the sun motors on with Elton John and Elbow the latest big names to sing some songs down in the docklands.

Cork Midsummer Festival kicked off last week with plenty of neon raves and installations to keep curious eyes filled. Robert Curgenven‘s Sculpting Air – The Sound of the Sky in The National Sculpture Factory jumps out as a highlight with the Cork-based Australian artist using the wonderful space and a state-of-the-art soundsystem to re-enact moments from his 2016 release, Climata  See the full programme over on www.corkmidsummer.com.
