Ye Vagabonds start slow-barge tour

Ye Vagabonds have announced a unique and wonderful slow-barge tour, with gigs planned along the River Barrow and the Royal and Grand Canals. Having set sail on 7th August, the Irish folk duo of Brían and Diarmuid MacGloinn are joined on the boat by filmmaker Myles O’Reilly. Stop-offs as part of All Boats Rise will include cameos from musical pals such as Laura Quirke, John Francis Flynn, Cormac Begley, Brigid Mae Power and more.

Made possible by a combination of funding from The Arts Council of Ireland, Waterways Ireland and Carlow County Council Arts Office, the floating tour has been described by the band as “an exercise in slow touring – rejecting the planes, trains, and automobiles for a slow moving barge, as well as getting to know about the history, folklore, and song of some of Ireland’s lesser heralded gems.”
