Hadestown
Bed-ridden with a throat infection this weekend boredom hung around me like a South African Vuvuvela. Thankfully a really good friend showed up to keep my sanity in check as well as entertain me by playing me various youtube snippets that she thought I would like. In reality my friend currently has no internet access and really wanted to check out a few things herself but the sum of the parts in the end was far greater than the individual needs.
The highlight of this show and tell session was Hadestown, the new “folk-opera” album from Anais Mitchell.
A concept album (loosely based on the Orpheus myth) with a stellar guestlist Anais has recruited the likes of Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Ani DiFranco and Ben Knox Miller (The Low Anthem) to create something rather special. Simply check out the video below to see what I mean.
