Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 17th-23rd March 2015

This week in Cork: No Spill Blood, The Darkness and more.

Synth titans No Spill Blood rock into Triskel TDC on Saturday evening with Cork pals Lamp for a loud evening of eardrum bashing fun. New album Heavy Electricity recently sent sparks a-flying in The Quietus HQ so it’s looking like a hell of a show.

Today of course is St. Patrick’s Day so the celebrations will be green and snake-ist. I’ve always had a soft spot for The Darkness‘ ‘Growing On Me’, an itch that can be scratched later this evening as Justin Hawkins and his leather-clad buddies stride into Cyprus Avenue for an evening of elaborate solos and spandex. For those looking to boogie at the weekend look no further than Under a Plastic Cloud at Gulpd on Saturday night where Phil Hope‘s northern soul session celebrates its 3rd party with very special guest Mark Ellis in town to spin some discs.
