Cork Gig Guide Dec 5th-11th
There is quite a nice selection of local, national and international artists set to strut their stuff on Leeside this week. Torn between gig of the week, I have indulged myself (as is my festive right!) with a double header of Bombay Bicycle Club in The Savoy (courtesy of Cyprus Avenue) and Agnes Obel (fresh from a five trophy haul including Best Album at the recent Danish music awards) in the hauntingly beautiful location that is the Triskel Christchurch.
Portland’s Lovers arrive in Cork earlier in the week with a Tuesday show in Cyprus Avenue with Carolyn Berk’s synth-poppers sure to make some brand spanking new friends on the Cork leg of their Irish tour.
Those of you heading to BBC in The Savoy on Wednesday have the possibility to extend their night of live music by popping into The Crane Lane for a late show from Cork’s Daphne In The Attic who, along with the help of The Northern Drones, finally launch their EP which will be available on the night.
Australian guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel, pop-folkies Windings, the musical bandwagon that is The Jagermeister Sessions, the wonderfully whispery Lisa Hannigan, the boogalicious Karma Parking and plenty more help make the week beginning December 5th another quality music splattered week in Cork.
