New: Terriers

For the past two weeks I have been banging on about Bouts who play Plugd Records this Saturday in what has been highlighted (by my selfish self of course) as Cork’s top gig to attend this weekend.

A reinforcement of this opinion comes in the way of the first recorded material from the recently formed Terriers who support on the night.

Members of local scream-scribes Slugbait go all “pop” with ‘Get Over Here’ extracting the more melodic elements of SB to create a more radio-friendly sound. Retaining the aggressive tempo of the aforementioned, Terriers introduce themselves to the world with a progtastic yet unexpected twin guitar riff lasting nearly a quarter of the song before the vocals hammer in half-way through, showing the hairy little feckers have not moved a million miles away from The ‘bait. There is more onus on making melodies and cleaner sounds heard with Terriers though and, from first listen, they may have stumbled upon a formula that hits square between the eyes of the metal monster and alternative rock ruffians.
