Long term blog-readers will know I am a little bit fond of those Megafaun boys. From their grizzly guitar licks and drum-fills, to their geeky sense of humour to the hefty hugs the trio are well capable of dishing out after a great performance so when word sprung like a sunflower from a crack in the pathway a few weeks ago that the North Carolinans were set to return to Ireland this Winter, quite a smile danced across my face.
A double header with Nashville songstress Caitlin Rose (read review here) was one of the best gigs I have ever had the pleasure of attending in my decade or so living in Cork so December 4th is definitely a stick-it-in-your-diary sort of day.
A Whelan's date on the 5th December will be preceded by a trip south with the Opera House's little sister, the Half Moon, the destination for brothers Brad and Phil Cook and pal Joe Westerlund's return to Cork.
- Megafaun play Half Moon, Cork on 4th December and Whelan's, Dublin on 5th December
