Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 9th-16th December

This week in Cork: This is the Kit, John Blek & The Rats, Lisa O’Neill, Wizards of Firetop Mountain and more..

Following a brief breather away from the gig promotion game, it’s with giddy delight to announce that Bristol-born Paris-based indie-folkies This Is The Kit will feature as part of a very merry Christmas The G-Man Presents… show. The intimate surroundings of Coughlan’s provides the perfect fireside setting for the return of songwriter Kate Stables & co. on Wednesday 10th December whose last trip to Ireland was as special guests for The National. A tighter squeeze than The O2/3Arena/4Place/5Thing ‘tis true but no less illuminating while the “little room with the massive heart” sees John Blek officially launch Cutting Room Floor, the Rats man’s first solo record on the following night so there’s no letting up right until the turn of the calendar for IMRO’s national venue of the year.* On Friday The Shaker Hymn complete a terrific trio of gigs on Douglas Street.
