This week in Cork: Plugd and Gulpd sign off Triskel era in style…
Cork’s beloved record shop and creative hangout spaces Plugd Records and Gulpd Cafe close the shutters for the final time on Tobin Street on Friday night, a huge loss to the city – but hopefully a temporary one – that, similarly to the closure of The Pavilion in 2014, will only be properly felt as the weeks and months pass by. Still, the Plugd and Gulpd crew will go out with a bang, welcoming self-styled fuck-wavers Land Crabs on Tuesday with what should surely be a memorable send off by The Altered Hours on Thursday with Friday’s final farewell soundtracked by Apocalypse Later DJs.

Malt & Music
Chart-topping indie-rockers Little Green Cars lead the line-up for Ballymaloe’s first ever music festival, Ballymaloe Malt & Music Weekend. Taking place beneath the shelter of Ballymaloe Grainstore’s Big Shed, also performing between Friday 30 June and 2nd July will be the ever emotional Jerry Fish, local soul sensations Shookrah and burlesque performer Foxy P. Cox. Boutique Irish gins and whiskies will be on hand too with craft beer served up by Blacks of Kinsale, 9 White Deer and more. ballymaloe.ie*
