Efterklang to premiere new album in Sydney Opera House

Hands up who witnessed first hand the enchanting excellence of Efterklang when they wowed The Savoy as part of the Opera House-curated Reich Effect celebrations in July last year? Yes. Pretty incredible it must be said.

For those who missed it see here for a review. Since then the Danish denizens have been holed away, recording the follow up to 2010’s wondrous Magic Chairs and the lucky citizens of Australia will be the first to taste a slice of that musical pie when songs from the new album are given an outing on May 26th in the world-famous Sydney Opera House. Efterklang don’t do anything in halves so the compositions that will eventually make up Piramida once released in Autumn will see the guys accompanied by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on the night.

An official word from the band’s camp comes in the below form:

Efterklang feel Sydney Opera House is the perfect place to mark a new beginning, on the grounds that fellow Dane Jørn Utzon designed nearly sixty years ago.”

– Piramida by Efterklang will be released on 4AD later in the year
– Efterklang play Sydney Opera House on May 26th
