Weekly Cork Gig Guide: 21st-27th April 2015

Jet Setter (Thursday)

This week in Cork: Jet Setter, This Other Kingdom, The Altered Hours, The Young Folk, Jan Jelinek and more.

The Record Store Day celebrations may be shelved for another year but the shops themselves are still standing so try and remember to swing by during the week to have a more comfortable browse now that the crazy crowds have calmed. Back on the gig circuit, it’s business as usual with indie rock the order of the week.

On Thursday, Dublin band Jet Setter return to a city that is fast becoming their second home at this rate with what should be a sweaty one in Coughlan’s if this heat keeps up. Local lads Partisan Crowds also play on the night. Jumping forward to Saturday it’s the first Triskel TDC show in quite some time as Alliance Promotions gather another rocking indie bill featuring This Other Kingdom, The Dijon Babes and Sex Beasts in the Triskel Arts Centre’s side auditorium.

Elsewhere, it’s loops and electronics courtesy of Germany’s Jan Jelinek in Black Mariah ( upstairs in Triskel) on Thursday evening and psych-sorcerers The Altered Hours are out west on Friday for a show in Clonakilty’s legendary De Barra’s.
