Weekly Gig Guide: 4th-10th November

The time is nigh…

It’s shaky knees/waggly tail time for myself and Lisa Lemur as the excitement reaches critical point with both Dott and French For Rabbits set to visit the Triskel this weekend. Word has it limited handmade tickets (by the wonderful Lisa Lemur) for the show featuring Dott and French For Rabbits are still available from Plugd Records so move the bum pronto if you’d like one all for yourself. For all other info on The G-Man presents… #9 please see here.

Elsewhere this weekend, Bouts and Bantum bombard Bradley’s of Barrack Street in a streak of indie pop, electronica and chronic alliteration (Saturday) whilst folk fanatics should head east for the album launch of possibly the country’s most gifted songwriter as Ger Wolfe visits Cobh’s Sirius Arts Centre (Friday).

If you thought Friday was bad, Saturday is an unapologetic catastrophe for clashes with Thrill Jockey troubadour Glenn Jones in The Black Mariah (Triskel Arts Centre) (interview with the man himself here), an all-day fundraising festival in Everyman Palace Theatre from 2pm on MacCurtain Street, the launch of the Cork Film Festival club in Gulpd Café (for a full breakdown of all music-related events visit here) and the Cork-leg of the First Music Contact tour – featuring newly crowned festival heavyweight champs Le Galaxie – in The Pavilion and fiddle virtuoso Martin Hayes with long-time partner in crime Dennis Cahill in Triskel Christchurch.

For those who make it through that assault course of audio joy, Rest are set to make an appearance on Barrack Street as part of a souped up support line for grindcore foursome Slave Zero on Sunday evening.
